3D PCB Design Included Free with CADSTAR 30th Anniversary Edition Bundle

CADSTAR, Zuken’s popular and affordable desktop PCB design solution, has been helping designers for 30 years this month. Zuken is starting its celebrations by including 3D design capabilities for free with the purchase of a 30th Anniversary Edition CADSTAR 3D bundle, for a limited time only. Over the coming months, CADSTAR user showcases will celebrate business success – from recent users to those with almost 30 years under their belt.

Jeroen Leinders, Global CADSTAR Distribution and Product Manager, reflects: “With a significant update to CADSTAR around the corner, we’re taking the time to celebrate the achievement of developing a product to this level of maturity and bringing a large number of happy customers along with us for long stretches of the full 30-year ride! In a world full of novelty and start-ups, it’s a reminder that electronic product businesses need software that is consistently developed and invested in to help them build their own success.”

CADSTAR started development in 1987 as a DOS-based system, by its original UK-based developers Racal-Redac. It was acquired by Japanese-owned Zuken in 1994, but retained its British roots and has been consistently developed in the UK from the start. The latest version, CADSTAR 18, is a complete environment for designing PCBs from initial concept through to product realization. Optimized for small and mid-sized design teams, it also appeals to individual all-rounders and corporations operating across multiple sites.

Growing up with CADSTAR

Maurizio Vissani, Senior Development Engineer at power systems company Efore, Italy, has been using CADSTAR since it was first released. “We grew up in the electronics industry with CADSTAR – it was our first ECAD system after we moved from hand-drawn design. Now we work with CADSTAR fully integrated into our factory, and our design library integrated with our ERP system. Strong local-language support for CADSTAR has been vital for the smooth running of our business.”

Move to 3D

To thank its loyal users and welcome new ones Zuken is offering 30th Anniversary Edition bundles of CADSTAR Professional and CADSTAR Basic, with 3D added for free upon purchase, thanks to the inclusion of Board Modeler Lite. This adds 3D PCB visualization, collision checking, 3D part creation and more. These bundles are available for a limited time only:

Bi-directional data translation between CADSTAR and 3D mechanical design systems ensures any updates made in Board Modeler Lite can be passed back into the CADSTAR design.

Save time with Web Part Search

Engineers can spend a lot of time searching for the correct components to use in a product design, which reduces time available for design or innovation. Launched last month, the latest CADSTAR update (18.0) includes time-saving Web Part Search functionality which allows engineers to search online part information directly from within the design tool, from partners such as SamacSys, Digi-Key, and more. SamacSys parts are available to download instantly from within the CADSTAR window using single click integration.
